  • We classify skin type by the categories below:

COMBINATION - Oilier t-zone (forehead, nose and chin) but drier or normal on your cheeks.

OILY - Shine and excess oil, especially on the forehead and nose. May feel the need to constantly blot your face.

SENSITIVE + DRY - Red, itchy, prone to stinging or burning, flush often, rough, dry skin. The skin on your arms and legs may also be dry or severely dry.

  • We give you all the tools needed for complete and total success. Every Starter KLEAR KIT comes with our acne safe products, signature handbook and educational guides. We have become known for these beautifully designed materials with easy to follow information.

Our signature handbook will become the only resource guide you will ever need! We teach you how to use the products properly along with healthy, safe, sustainable lifestyle changes. When followed correctly, you can clear your skin and live your very best life.

We have a medical advisory team made up of passionate, highly qualified specialists and doctors. Our team includes an MD, N.M.D, OBGYN, esthetician, BSN, RN, NC-BC, D.O. and cosmetic chemists with over 80 years combined experience.

We genuinely care, put our whole hearts into everything we do and want the absolute best results for you. We build lasting relationships within our KLEAR family.

  • Some see results within the first few weeks! But generally speaking, it takes about 100 days to get clear. This is due to the fact that any existing acne takes up to 90 days to come to the surface. What you start doing today, will prevent the next wave of acne from forming in the future.

  • Everyone should begin with a Starter KLEAR KIT suited for their skin type. Using the kit consistently is crucial to your success. Every initial kit comes with all the products and education you need to clear your skin. This includes a selection of informative guides including: An acne safe makeup guide, athlete guide, birth control guide and face shaving guide. We cover truths (and debunk myths) about diet, supplements, lifestyle, birth control, sleep, stress and hormones.

We include a calendar to track your first 100 day progress - as most skin starts to transform and fully clear around the 100 day mark. We encourage you to stay as committed as possible during this timeframe. The products work together to heal, treat, nourish, hydrate and protect.

All facets of the program work synergistically. Once total clearing is achieved, you must continue to use your products to keep acne under control and remain in the maintenance phase.

Once in maintenance phase, you can be a little less strict, but still adhere to the general guidelines. For many of our clients this means the full program, while others do well with a modified version.

  • If you follow directions as written, your KLEAR KIT should last about 3 months. A KLEAR KIT every quarter (4x year) should keep your skin clear longterm. You can also order products individually, as needed.

We are extremely thoughtful in choosing our bottles. We focus on the packaging just as much as the formulas inside.

We want to ensure you don’t overuse/underuse product. This is part of why we choose pump dispensers over jars.

Why we use clear pump dispensers:

It allows us to educate you on exactly how many pumps to use for total success. Clear bottles ensure you can always see the exact amount of product remaining. This way, you can always re-order as needed before you run out.

We also choose pumps over jars because they are the most sanitary option. They keep the products fresh and protected from bacterial contamination and oxidation.

Why we don’t use jars in our KLEAR KITS: With jars, we can’t direct on proper dosage like we can with pumps. Jars are also the least sanitary option and can be a breeding ground for bacteria. Dipping your hand into a jar daily increases the risk of bacterial growth that you could transfer to your skin. This could result in rashes, infections and acne.

Even if you wash your hands, germs can be hidden under nails and if they get into your product, germs can multiply. When you forget to wash hands or double-dip, contamination can occur.

  • All of our products are paraben free, dye free, SLS + SLES free, phthalate free and the majority of our products are also fragrance free.

We use less than 1% of fragrance in our Gel Cleanser, xxx to mask the smell of raw material. The fragrance used is cosmetic grade, safe to use and non-comedogenic.

TWEAK! Fragrance is included in our Gel Cleanser, Overnight Therapy 5%, Overnight Therapy 10%, Scrub Cleanser and Solar Screen SPF 50.

Our SPF options are FREE of chemical sunscreen filters.

  • The answer is NO! Benzoyl peroxide does not cause premature aging. In fact, when used correctly and formulated properly, Benzoyl peroxide is still the most powerful and effective treatment to clear existing acne and prevent future breakouts. It does so without damaging or effecting the skin’s collagen or elastin.

Benzoyl peroxide is a chemical compound that has been safely used since the early 1900s. It was initially used to treat burns. In 1970, Dr. Harvey Blank established a skin research center at the University of Miami. Meanwhile, Dr. James Fulton completed medical school at Tulane University, finished his dermatology residency at University of Pennsylvania, obtained a Ph.D. in biochemistry and then joined Dr. Blank. Together, they begin experimenting with benzoyl peroxide for the treatment of acne.

They discovered a few breakthroughs that still hold true today:

    1. Benzoyl peroxide causes deep peeling inside the pore to loosen impactions and stop the pores from sludging up with dead skin cells - making it successful at treating non-inflamed acne.

    2. Benzoyl peroxide kills bacteria. The benzoyl part of the molecule pulls the peroxide deep down into the pore. Bacteria can’t live and thrive in the presence of oxygen. So as oxygen floods into the pore, it kills and suffocates the bacteria. Making it the most successful at treating inflamed acne as well.

    3. When Benzoyl peroxide is suspended in a water-based gel (like ours!) it penetrates much better into the pores vs an oily base. Many benzoyl peroxide products on the market use oily bases which cancel its effectiveness. Building up your tolerance slowly is important. That’s why we start everyone on Overnight Therapy 2.8%. As your skin adapts, you may gradually increase your levels to Overnight Therapy 5% or Overnight Therapy 10% (based on age, sex, skin type and climate). Regardless, slight peeling and dryness at the beginning is normal for everyone and means it’s working! Skin will balance out in just a few weeks. (If you’re feeling extra dry, don’t apply Overnight Therapy for 1-3 days and use hydration instead). Then get back on track. You can also layer a water-based gel (like our Cooling Hydra Gel) under your Overnight Therapy to relieve dryness, as needed.

TIP: Don’t use traditional oily-based moisturizers under or over Overnight Therapy as it can interfere with the efficacy.

    4. It’s important to remember that it takes up to 90 days for a pimple to form. Your job is to keep future pimples from forming. This means you you will work your way up to wearing Overnight Therapy all over your face, every night, as part of your PM routine. It is NOT to be used as a spot treatment. Apply from hairline to just under your jawline (and avoid eye area).

    NOTES:

*Having an allergic reaction to Benzoyl peroxide is extremely rare. Less than 1% of the population is truly allergic to benzoyl peroxide. You can always patch test by applying a dime size amount on inner forearm and covering with a bandaid for 3 nights to be sure. If no major reaction, it is likely there is no allergy.

*In the rare case that you can’t tolerate benzoyl peroxide, some clients use the perfecting serum at night instead with great success. Some gradually work their way up to perfecting serum AM + PM if needed.

  • In regards to the recent news about benzoyl peroxide safety, the FDA has made a statement indicating that benzoyl peroxide is safe to use and we all can continue to do so as we have been.

Statement by the Personal Care Products Council on Valisure Petition on Benzoyl Peroxide in OTC Personal Care Products

WASHINGTON – “Over-the-counter (OTC) drug products such as anti-acne treatments are highly regulated by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), which has reviewed and determined benzoyl peroxide is a safe and effective anti-acne ingredient. Consumers have safely used anti-acne products for decades.

“Personal care products companies do not add benzene to any OTC personal care product. The findings in the most recent Valisure petition are based on unproven, questionable methods applying unrealistic conditions which are inconsistent with the way the product would be stored normally. In a December 2022 letter, the FDA highlighted multiple deficiencies in Valisure’s analytical methods, stating that the lab should follow the same testing methods that drug manufacturers are required to use.”

We strongly value safety with all our products. Benzoyl peroxide should be stored properly in cool areas and out of areas of direct sunlight.

The Valisure petition and statements are under question given their flawed analytics of testing BPO under excess storage conditions at high temperatures for prolonged periods of time which does not replicate consumer conditions of usual and normal use.  Additionally there may be a potential conflict of interest in the information presented by Valisure given a pending patent on a similar ingredient/ All of which is being investigated.

We will keep you posted with updates.

  • Retinoid is a just a general, umbrella term for over-the-counter and prescription products derived from Vitamin A.

NOTE: Over the counter just means you don’t need a prescription. You can buy at your local drugstore or supermarket, for example.

    WHAT DOES IT DO?

Our natural skin nenewal process is called skin cell turnover which slows down as we age. Up until you turn about 30, your cells turn over every 28 days. In your mid-30’s, your cell regeneration starts to slow down and turn over every 50-70 days. When retinoids are introduced, it speeds up the process to exfoliate those skin cells hanging out on the surface of your skin - revealing fresh, smooth skin underneath.

    THE 7 CLASSES INCLUDE:

Retinyl Esters (Retinyl Palmitate) - The most gentle form of over-the-counter retinoids.

Retinol - Contains lower concentrations of the active retinoic acid ingredient. Available over-the-counter.

Retindehyde (Retinal) - It is stronger than retinol, but not as potent as prescription strength. Available over the counter.

Adapalene (Differin) - The only prescription-strength retinoid sold over the counter.

Tretinoin (Retinoic Acid) - Can also be sold under the names Retin-A, Atralin or Renova. This is the pure form of retinoic acid. It requires a prescription.

Tazarotene (Tazorac) - The strongest prescription only topical retinoid. Commonly used to treat psoriasis and acne.

Isotretinoin (Accutane) - An oral retinoid. In 1982, the US Food and Drug Administration approved the active ingredient Isotretinoin for severe acne under the brand name Accutane. Accutane was actually discontinued in 2009 due to lawsuits over Vitamin A toxicity and side effects. Currently, Isotretinoin is available in generic versions: Amnesteem, Claravis, Myorisan, Absorica, Amneal isotretinoin and Zenatane. It is still reserved for severe acne only.

NOTE: The prescription cream form of Retin-A/Tretinoin should be avoided completely. It is formulated with one of the most comedogenic ingredients called Isopropyl Myristate. If you are acne-prone, it will make your acne worse. Do NOT use!

  • The CREAM form of prescription strength Retin-A/Tretinoin should be avoided completely. It is formulated with one of the most comedogenic ingredients called Isopropyl Myristate. It will only make your acne worse. Do NOT use!

The GEL form of prescription strength Retin-A/Tretinoin does not contain Isopropyl Myristate - making it the safer and better option.

    But do you need it?

Or bodies can convert retinol into retinoic acid, but it takes some time. Retinols available over the counter (at your local supermarket or drugstore) work much more slowly and gently than prescription strength. While this may seem like the way to go, think again…

Vitamin-A is such a powerful irritant that it can cause purging, dryness, redness, flaking and stinging. It also makes your skin extra sensitive to the sun.

Because big companies and manufacturers know the customer doesn’t like to get dry and irritated, many formulate their retinol in a cream base. This causes other issues. Vitamin A binds to the creamy ingredients making it unavailable to the skin and useless. Most ingredients in cream formulations are also very pore clogging.

While Retinoids do have a strong exfoliating effect, they can’t tackle the oil and bacteria part of your acne problem.

Only benozyl peroxide can address ALL 3 factors that are causing your acne. Benzoyl peroxide will cause mild exfoliation, dry up your oil and kill bacteria to unclog your acne at the source.

Benzoyl peroxide is still the best acne medication ever developed when formulated properly and used consistently and correctly as part of our program.

NOTE: We use a small amount of retinyl palmitate (the ester of retinol and palmitic acid) in our Soothing Moisturizer and Solar Screen SPF 50. It is the least potent of retinoids (takes 3 steps to convert to retinoid acid) and the most gentle - making it the best option for sensitive and acne-prone skin.

  • We prefer a combination of chemical and physical exfoliation instead of retinoids.

Chemical Exfoliation - Topical acids that dissolve dead skin cells include AHAs and BHAs.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) include: Mandelic, glycolic malic, citric, lactic and natural fruit acids.

Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs) includes the most common which is salicylic acid.

Our favorite AHAs are mandelic acid and lactic acid because they are gentle, effective and safe for acne-prone and sensitive skin. We use these ingredients in our Gel Cleanser, Perfecting Serums and Body Serum.

Physical Exfoliation - Involves any formula that contains tiny grains used physically on the skin to manually slough off and remove surface dead skin cells.

Many scrubs on the market can cause inflammation by creating microscopic tears (micro-tears) in the skin. This is especially true if the scrub contains granules with irregular edges from walnut, shells or apricot pits. Scrubbing too frequently and too harshly can create long-term damage.

We use fine hydrated silica beads in our Gentle Scrub Cleanser. They are natural, hypoallergenic and non-irritating. They are completely smooth with a uniform surface so they will never tear delicate skin.

We use Non-Polyethylene Beads with benzoyl peroxide in our Scrub Cleanser (which allows the active ingredients to penetrate better) while improving skin texture.

If acne prone, we recommend incorporating our Scrub Cleanser after approx. 65 days on the program. Normal and mature skin types, can start using our Gentle Scrub Cleanser right away. Scrubs should be used 3-4x week.

Gentle scrub cleanser is suitable for all skin types, while Scrub Cleanser is better suited for acne-prone skin.

  • All of our products are paraben free, dye free, phthalate free, fragrance free, sodium lauryl sulfate free, sodium laureth sulfate free and cruelty free. We don’t formulate with drying alcohols (No SD Alcohol or Isopropyl Alcohol).

Active ingredients to discuss with your doctor:

Benzoyl peroxide is used in our Scrub Cleanser and Overnight Therapy 2.8%, 5% and 10%. It is considered safe during pregnancy when used topically. This is because your body absorbs very little of the drug. Per the NIH (National Institute of Health) National Library of Medicine: “When benzoyl peroxide is applied topically, only 5% is absorbed through the skin, and then is completely metabolized to benzoic acid within the skin and excreted unchanged in the urine. No studies on the use of this preparation in pregnant patients have been published; however, systemic effects on a pregnant woman and her child would not be expected and therefore use of this product during pregnancy would not be of concern.”

*Pregnancy Safe Kit info here? ADD!

Mandelic Acid is used in our Gel Cleanser and Perfecting Serum 5% and 10%. Mandelic acid is a pregnancy safe alpha-hydroxy acid. It is derived from bitter almonds and is completely non-toxic. Pregnancy hormones are key culprits in Melasma - which can cause excessive pigment and darkening of the skin. Our Gel Cleanser and Perfecting Serums will not only tackle acne, but also lighten pigment safely and quickly.

If preferred, you can use Perfecting Serum 5% or 10% in place of Overnight Therapy 2.8%, 5% or 10% during pregnancy.

Retinyl Palmitate is used in our Soothing Moisturizer and Solar Screen SPF 50. We use less than 1% in these two products. It is added to improve acne symptoms, signs of aging and hyperpigmentation. It is a less potent and more gentle form of retinoid that does not lead to excess Vitamin A in the body. Retinyl palmitate cannot cross the placental membrane. Thus it has been deemed safe to use in small, topical applications while pregnant.

  • Yes! With consistent use, our products target and treat post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Our products will help diminish and lighten red and brown spots left behind. Once your skin is fully clear, there are more advanced treatment options available from licensed professionals including: Microchanneling, radiofrequency, dermal fillers, fraxel lasers, vascular lasers and even surgical methods of scar removal for atrophic scars like ice pick, boxcar and rolling scars.

  • The skin on your back is twice as thick as it is on your face, making it more difficult for ingredients to penetrate. This means you can start with higher concentrations right away.

We recommend our body wash formulated with 10% benzoyl peroxide, AM Body Serum formulated with 15% mandelic acid and our Overnight Therapy formulated with 10% benzoyl peroxide.

Our body products + body bundle can be used on back, shoulders and chest.

  • While we have many cases of people who reach total clearing without ever getting a facial, a proper facial can help speed up the process when done correctly.

NOTE: Many facials can do more harm than good, so it’s important to do research before.

Should you choose to get a facial (it is by no means mandatory), we suggest bringing KLEAR products with you for use during treatment. Hopefully, the esthetician or practitioner will respect your devotion and commitment to the KLEAR program.

Gentle etractions performed by a credible and certified esthetician every 3-4 weeks can be done until you’ve reached total clearing.

Effective and safe additions include: Mandelic acid, lactic acid and TCA chemical peels, LED blue + red light therapy, high frequency, oxygen and cryotherapy with liquid or vaporized nitrogen.

Be sure to AVOID: Microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, hydra facials and gua sha.

Once clear, you can figure out a treatment and maintenance schedule that’s best for you.

  • All of our products are proudly made in the USA.

  • All of our products are 100% cruelty free. No animal testing, ever.

  • If you have normal or mature skin, you can safely use our non-active products. These include our Gel Cleanser, Aloe Mist, Gentle Scrub Cleanser, Cooling Hydra Gel, Soothing Moisturizer, Rescue Cream and ADD SFP DAILY, Solar Block SPF 50, AM Depuffing Eye Gel and PM Rich Eye Cream.

They will leave your skin clear, balanced, hydrated, nourished and protected.
